Have you been afraid to use Stencils?

Have you been scared to try stencils, because they might be hard?  Well, you shouldn’t be!  And with this Technique hop, we will give you more than a few reasons why you need to try them!

You should have arrived here from Danielle’s blog, (if you didn’t start here!) and she always has great ideas!  If you started here, no worries!  You will get back around to her blog, as it’s a giant circle!

So, let’s get started on what I have to show you, shall we?

Isn’t this just an adorable card!?!?  (I hope you leave a comment below to let me know what you think!!)  I loved coloring this little guy!  I used my friend’s son as my model for coloring!  (I’m not the best at it, but I think he’s cute!)

Now, the stenciling part.  I started with his hoodie!  I masked his hoodie first, so that I could get an ombre effect on it (which I looooove how that turned out!) and then masked off his arms and pocket, so I could add stripes from the stencil.  I used the card front 3 bundle for the stripes.  (these are all done in bluebird ink.)

Then I decided I needed to make it a bit more!  So, I grabbed the thanks stencil from the card stencil pack 1, picked the upper case A, masked off around it, and used texture paste and silver embossing powder to make an A on the front.  (my model’s first name starts with an A).  I let the paste dry, then heat embossed the A, it gives it some extra dimension!

I took some white daisy cardstock, and stamped the headphones, pizza, cup, donut, TV, and laptop in linen ink to make the background less boring!  I stamped and cut the headphones and cup with their thin cuts, and the pizza I fussy cut (no thin cut for that one!)  I popped up my model, and he is super cute!

I decided I needed a bit more blue, and a bit more silver, as well, so I grabbed a strip to heat emboss the word Awesome in the silver embossing powder, and then the ‘you are’ in sapphire ink just above it!

I used most of the guys stamps, because they are so easy to mix and match!  I even used one of the girls!

To finish off the card, I used the same stencil and same ink (bluebird) to create the stencils on the card base.  I think it ties everything in perfectly!  Now, after you leave a quick comment, head on over to Lauren’s blog!  She has some great stuff!

Remember to leave a little love on everyone’s post!  We all love crafting, and we love to know that what we show you is appreciated!

Thanks!  And see you next time!

SWAK isn’t what you think it means!

We grew up thinking this was Sealed with a Kiss, right?  Well, you could technically do that with what I have for you today, but today I have a different meaning for you!

Today we are STAMPING with a KISS!  Have you heard about the Kiss Technique?  Well, it is where you ink up one stamp, stamp it onto another stamp that has a design, and then stamp the remaining ink onto your project.  Sounds pretty cool, right?  Well, let’s see what I made to show you!

close view of sentiment

Isn’t this sentiment just so cute??  I bet you couldn’t guess which stamp I used to kiss the letters onto!  Would you believe it was an ice cream cone stamp?  Well, it was!  I just thought the texture was so fun, and would work so well with the PML card that I used for the top of the card!

The ice cream cone is in the same set as the coffee card, and we already know that I love me some coffee cards!  So, it just worked out so perfectly!

Full Front of Cards

I know my friend Lynn loves that there can be more uses for dies than what they are specifically designed for, so hopefully this card will make her smile!

The white frame on this card is the Oval Frame Thin Cut!  I paired it with the Circles Thin Cuts, and you wouldn’t know that it’s supposed to be an oval inside!

Semi Close view of sentiment

I just wanted to show off the gold embossing on the bottom of the letters!  It just makes them pop!  (well, that and a few layers of cardstock!)

I used no foam tape on this card, no coloring, I just wanted a nice ‘simple’ card!  (ok, maybe not ‘simple’ . . . )

I hope that you like the card, and leave a message below letting me know your thoughts!  If you try the Kiss technique, go and show off your project at the H2H blog!  The would LOVE to see your craftiness, too!

H2H Watercolor Close Up

The look of watercolor, the ease of stamping!

Don’t you just love the look of watercoloring?  I do love it, but sometimes am intimidated by it.  So, when Heart 2 Heart announced the watercolor challenge, I thought it was a perfect chance to give you all an idea on how to do it, without having to feel intimidated by actually watercoloring!

H2H Watercolor Slimline Card

I grabbed the Perfectly Imperfect Patterns stamp set, that has 6 different watercolor type stamps and 2 stamps that are splattered dots, and got started!  I used the Wild Berry and Lemonade inks for my card, and just went for it!

The stamps are stamped a couple of times each, and I did overlap them, and got a light orange color in the middle.  I used the splatter dots all over the card, in first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and even sixth generation stamping!  I even added a few in Archival Black, to help tie in the banner and butterfly body.

I used the small butterfly outline and cut out of the vellum, and used the detailed small butterfly in Wild Berry to ‘pop’ off the card.

The banner and sentiment are both from the Thoughtful Critters Stamp and Thin Cut.  I stamped the sentiment on some black cardstock, used white embossing powder, and then cut with the banner thin cut.  (then trimmed off the hands with my scissors)

I used just a tiny scrap of Black cardstock to make the body.  I cut with the thin cut, then trimmed the body out with my non stick scissors.

I hope you have liked my little project!  I would love to see you participate with the H2H Challenge!  You have until the end of the month to upload your creation!  (you don’t have to be a consultant, the challenges are for anyone that likes to craft with CTMH goodies!)

I would really love it if you left a comment below!  I love to hear what you all think about my creations!

H2H’s Peace on Earth

This week’s challenge over at the H2H blog is “Peace on Earth”.  This was a hard one for me, at first, because I don’t have any nativity type stamp sets.  So, I had to do some thinking as to how to make that work.  I think I succeeded!  🙂

I grabbed a piece of the watercolor paper, and decided to do a slimline card.  I cut my piece down to 3.5 x 9, and then started ink blending.  I used mostly our water based inks on here, however did not add any extra water.  I used: Glacier, Bluebird, Peacock, Sapphire inks, and then completed the blending with some black soot distress oxide.

Once I finished with the blending, I grabbed my clear shimmer brush and created some splatters, and then added some white dots with a white gel pen.  Next up was some snow banks, made easy with the fancy borders thin cuts and some white daisy cardstock!  I used some thin foam tape behind the top of the hills, and glued the bottom of the hills flat.  It gives it such a unique look!

Once I was done with that, I decided I needed something else for the card.  I couldn’t find a sentiment that was small enough, and understated enough for the card.  The first star I was going to go with, wasn’t quite big enough.  It got lost with some of those larger spots of shimmer brush.  But, I started thinking outside of the box, I mean, that IS how the whole thing got started, right?  I found this fairly perfect ‘star’!  It is actually the asterisk from the Brushed Letters Alphabet!  Stamped it with versa mark ink, and heat embossed it with some silver embossing powder.

I really love how this card turned out!  I hope you like it as well!  I would love to hear your thoughts, should I have stuck with the silver, or should I have gone with gold for the star?

April 15, 2020 Technique Hop – “Heat It Up!”

Welcome to the technique log pop! Today you should have arrived from Lauren’s blog, however if you started here no worries, it’s a big circle and you will make it back there.

Today in the Let’s Flock Together Facebook group, we played with heat embossing. I have a number of samples that I show you how to do on video, and it was a lot of fun!

Today’s card uses just one of the examples of how you can use heat embossing in different ways. And this one was a crafting oops! (But I LOVE how it turned out!)

I used the silver embossing powder and did 3 layers, and tried stamping the hello, to press it into the heated powder, however, it wasn’t thick enough yet. So, I added a few more layers, and it half worked. I had more pressure on the O than I did the H, so I heated it up, and was going to stamp it again, and when I did that, the powder became smooth, and the stamped Hello turned black! I LOVE LOVE LOVE how this turned out! Crafting oopses are fun sometimes, right?

I used pattern 20 from the MIFYH Volume 4 book, and this card came together in no time at all! (It’s taken longer to type the blog post than it did to make the card! LOVE that!)

I hope you like my little discovery! I would love it if you left a note below, before you hopped along to Miss Carrie’s blog!

Oh, and by the way, this is what it was SUPPOSED to look like! LOL!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
