15 years of Close to my Heart goodness!

Cowboys and . . . friends?

Hey Crafters!

Today we are talking cowboys and friends! (not the first line of thought for some of you crafters, right?) Today we have another installment of the Modville My Crush Book Card series! We have only one more left after today! I still have PLENTY of paper left to work with! (in fact, I used only most of 7 pages for all of these cards! I could easily make another few cards without having to chop into another page!) Let’s jump right in, shall we?

21

Isn’t this cowboy a cutie? I just love it!! I couldn’t decide if I wanted to cut out the “range” from the scrap to glue it on or not, at first. I ended up adding it . . . still not sure if it’s my favorite, but it is where it is . . . being held on with liquid glass, so it isn’t going anywhere!! LOL I think this one might just be the most simple card out of the whole bunch! No extra bling or anything!

Then, we move on to some more friends cards!

07

I’ve made this style of card many times. It’s simple, but beautiful, I think! Do you recognize the yellow paper? It’s from the birthday card yesterday!

08

I used the White Daisy ink to stamp the sentiment from the Better with a Friend set (the same set as from the bike card), and then decided to do a couple of lines of the bitty sparkles. Who doesn’t love sparkles?

This card could easily turn into a thank you card, based on what you put inside! (and would be more ‘guy’ like if you didn’t add the bitty sparkles)

Tell me what you would use Mr. Cowboy for!

Supplies needed for these cards:
Modville My Crush Book
Better with a Friend Hostess Stamp Set
Foam Tape
Bitty Sparkles
White Daisy Craft Ink
Liquid Glass
White Daisy Card Base & Envelope Value Pack

The July special is buy $25 in stamps and get the SOTM free or one of the hostess stamps for just $5! These sets are FABULOUS! I know you will want some of them, if not all of them!

Until tomorrow!

What do Awesome and Birthday have in common?

Hey crafters!

So, what DO Awesome and Birthday have in common? Well, today they share the Modville My Crush Book, Cards, and guy appropriate! What a great combo, yes?

Remember what I was telling you about how there are shadows on some of the pages, that look like there are other papers on top? Check out this first card!

05

This is, believe it or not, a single layer card! Well, ok, paper wise, at least! LOL Isn’t it awesome? It has Hip Hip Hooray already printed on it, so I just had to come up with a reason to celebrate. And what better reason that a birthday, right?

To add the additional parts to the sentiment, I used two stamp sets, A Typeface and Polka Dot Alphabet, stamped with Archival Black ink.

06

Then it was time to add some embellishments! Now, I think, even with the bit of bling, it would be good for a guy. But, you could always leave that off, and there would be less sparkle for him. Either way works, I think! I did use the Black Shimmer Trim and a bit of the Black Baker’s Twine from the Neutral Bakers Twine pack. I attached them with the Mini Stapler! I love this thing!!

Next, I decided to use another one of those fun Hostess Rewards Stamp Set! This one is in the Seasonal Expressions 2 book. It’s a FUN set of tags and sentiments.

03

I used a ‘scrap’ from one of the pages for the tags, that’s why you see the lines. Now, these are cricut compatible, but I just used my scissors and paper trimmer to get them cut down (since I was using scraps) I stamped one with Pear ink and one with flaxen ink. Then I used the Archival Black to add the fun sentiment.

04

Now, if you do cricut cut these, there will already be a hole in the top, however, since I hand cut mine, I had to add my hole with a hole punch. Then I took 2 short strings (about 4 inches each) of the Cashmere twine, bent them in half, slipped the loop through the hole, and then pulled the ends through the loop. Once tightened, I trimmed the tops of the twine to the length that I wanted. I popped both the blue paper and the tags with foam tape. To make sure the tags laid correctly, I put foam tape on the upper and lower ends of the back side of the flaxen tag. Then I added foam tape to just the upper end of the pear tag. This allowed them to overlap, and not have odd bends in them.

I think these are both awesome little cards! More guy cards! Who couldn’t use more of those for their stash? Which one do you like more? Do you think they are both ‘guy worthy’?

Supplies needed for these cards:
Modville My Crush Book
A Typeface
Polka Dot Alphabet
Foam Tape
Neutral Baker’s Twine
Archival Black Ink (retiring at the end of August!)
White Daisy Card Base & Envelope Value Pack
Black Shimmer Trim
Mini Stapler
Pear Ink
Flaxen Ink

Remember, in July, when you buy $25 in stamps, you can get the SOTM free, or one of the hostess rewards sets for just $5! Make sure to get your order before the end of the month!

Perfect and Wonderful!

Hey Crafters!

Welcome to July! That seems a bit strange to say, doesn’t it? I don’t know about you, but the year has seemed to just FLY by! I’m hoping that you had the chance to partake in the June special with the My Crush Books! I’ll be showing you a few more cards still with pages from the Modville Crush Book. Today I am showing you two of the specials for July! I’ll tell you more about the special a bit further down!

For my first card, I saw the scrabble tiles, and thought, what can I add to this to make it the perfect saying? I think I found a pretty good one!

12

I used the July Stamp of the Month for this fun card, as well as the set A Typeface (which is retiring at the end of August!). Because I wanted a bit more white space around the edge of the card, the grey houndstooth piece is 3 3/4 x 5. This also gave a bit more space to attach the Black Shimmer trim to the edges of the card, and help tie in the black ink.

13

That black glitter tape is so fun! Already sticky, and ready to go . . . makes it perfect! (and it doesn’t drop the glitter either, what could be better?)

Then, I have a great friend who LOVES to ride her bike. (I might just send this to her!) So, I was thinking of her when I saw the bike, and tried to find something that fit well.

24

The stamp set that I used is one of the Hostess reward stamps. Isn’t it a great little saying? I stamped it in White Daisy ink, and attached the paper to the front, no foam on either of these two cards today.

So, this fabulous special that we have going this month? Well, when you spend $25 in stamps, you either get the SOTM FREE or you can get any of the Hostess Rewards stamps for just $5! Want more than one of these fabulous stamp sets? Well, you are in luck! This months special allows you to build on your special! If you spend $50 in stamps, then you will be able to get 2 stamp sets! How great is that!?!? I know you will find some great stamps in the books!

Supplies needed for these cards:
Modville My Crush Book
July Stamp of the Month
A Typeface
Hostess Reward: Page 9 of the Annual Expressions Book
Archival Black Ink (retiring at the end of August!)
White Daisy Craft Ink
Liquid Glass
White Daisy Card Base & Envelope Value Pack
Black Shimmer Trim

Which is your favorite card today? Let me know in the comments!

Until we craft again!

~ Michelle

You are my Happy!

Hey there crafters!

I’m sure you have seen the tiny M sized stamps, right? They are just $2.95, and are PERFECT little things! In today’s installment of the Modville My Crush book cards, I used the My Happy stamp set. Like I said, it’s only $2.95, and works great for guys or girls! Let’s take a look, shall we?

14

I LOVE this card! It was one of the last cards that I did, and used up some of the smaller ‘extra’ pieces to make the banners. On all of the other cards, you won’t see the holes in the pages for the book, but, this card I kept the holes, not that you can see them! Can you guess where?

16

If you guessed under the baker’s twine, you were right! I used the holes to weave the twine through, to give a nice thick ‘line’ of twine at the top, then I tied a knot in it. I LOVE how it turned out!! Now, in this picture, you can see that it has that silver in it. That’s the part that I took out from yesterday’s truck card.

15

Now, on this stamp, there is a heart between the two lines on the bottom. I wanted something a little different, so I decided to use one of the White enamel stars, just to set it on top of it. And, as you can see, it covered it perfectly! (it made it seem a bit better to give as a ‘guy’ card . . . I’m all about making a bunch of guy cards with this book!)

25

This is another super simple card! I used the My Happy stamp and white daisy ink. Then I just added a bit of glacier extra thick twine to give it a pop of color! I could easily have left that off too, and it would still be a great card!

What do you think? Both good cards for guys?

Supplies needed for these cards:
Modville My Crush Book
My Happy Stamp
Foam Tape
Neutral Baker’s Twine
Archival Black Ink (retiring at the end of August!)
White Daisy Craft Ink
Liquid Glass
White Daisy Card Base & Envelope Value Pack
White Enamel Stars
Glacier Extra Thick Twine

Remember, June 30th (today!) is the last day to get your free stamp! When you purchase your My Crush book and it’s matching assortment, you will get the coordinating stamp set for free!

So, what do you think? Do you like the Glacier twine? Let me know in the comments!

All About the Guys

Hey Crafters!

Are you like me, and have a hard time figuring out cards to give to the guys in your life? Well, Check out today’s two cards! They are SUPER easy, and super guy friendly!!

09

This truck screams GUY card to me! I don’t know about you! This would be perfect for the hubby or boyfriend or special someone in your life that loves trucks (doesn’t have to be a guy!!)

Now, this card is made from the Modville My Crush Book, like yesterdays cards! I just added it to a card base, and decided, after taking all the backing off of the foam tape, that I wanted to add some of the baker’s twine around the tire track on the right side. So, this is what I did. I wrapped it around 3 times, to figure out just how long it should be. Now, if you are familiar with the CTMH Baker’s twine, it has a thread of silver in it. Well, most guys aren’t all about that bling. . . . . so I just took it out of the twine before I re-wrapped and tied it into a knot on that right side.

10

Here you can see that twine just a bit closer! SUPER simple! There is NO stamping on the front of this card. (the inside is blank, at least for now!)

This next card, I don’t know if it is simpler or not, but it’s still GREAT for a guy! (or anyone, for that matter!)

11

As you can see, this comes from the same page in the Modville book, it’s that tire track that you saw on the right side of the truck card. I just cut the piece to fit onto my card base, stamped, and glued it directly to the card base (no foam tape on this one). No bling, no twine, super simple CAS (clean and simple) card! I love how the splatters on the tire tracks work perfectly with the grunginess of the stamp set!

So, tell me, which do you think is the more ‘simple’ card to make? The truck with no stamping, but twine added or the happy birthday stamped card?

The June special ends at the end of June, so make sure to take part! When you purchase the My Crush book and matching assortment you will get the coordinating stamp set for free!

Supplies needed for these cards:
Modville My Crush Book
Happy Everything Operation Smile Stamp Set
Foam Tape
Neutral Baker’s Twine
Archival Black Ink (retiring at the end of August!)
Liquid Glass

Thanks for stopping by! Remember to come back tomorrow!!

Splish Splash & Tricycle Modville cards

Hey everyone!

I don’t know how your month has gone, but mine has been flying by! Shortly the June special will be over! I was crafting with another My Crush book, and it’s all sold out now! So, while I could show you the cards I have made with it, for now, it would just seem to be a bit mean! So, last night, while I was waiting for my daughter to get off work, I put together a fun set of cards! Over the next few days, I will share them with you! The Modville book is still available, as of me typing up this post, so hopefully it is still available, and you can get one and make some of these adorable cards for yourself!

01

This SUPER fun card is just one layer of the paper from the Modville book, cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″, popped up with some foam tape. I then went over the puddle with some liquid glass to make it shiny and look like she is really jumping into a puddle!

02

The next card is also a single layer card, also cut at 4 x 5 1/4 and popped with some foam tape. I added 4 enamel stars to the corners of the tricycle card. This would be a fun baby shower card, I think!

17

I love that the image on the page from the book also has the shadows included in it, so it very much looks like I have put more work into this card! (my daughter was looking through the loose pages, and tried to pick up a square that was this blue polka dot, that was on another page, and she was startled that it was just printed on! It made me giggle last night!)

18

So, Here’s the special for the month. Purchase a My Crush book and it’s matching assortment and you will get the coordinating stamp set for free! Isn’t that a GREAT deal? These pages are FANTASTIC! You get so very many options of the papers! I’ll be showing more of these cards the next few days! Just to give you a hint, here is a shot of all of the cards (even if you can’t really see all of them!)

The supplies used for these cards:
Modville My Crush Book
White Daisy Value Pack
Liquid Glass
Foam Tape
White Enamel Stars

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have enjoyed the cards! Stay tuned tomorrow for more cards! And, coming up next month, it will be Christmas in July! (both with Convention and with projects that you can make for the upcoming Christmas season!)

I would love to hear your thoughts on my cards! Let me know what you think!

May SOTM Blog Hop, Just Sayin’

Hey there crafters! It’s time for another blog hop! This month’s set is called “Just Sayin” and is full of a bunch of fun word bubbles! We have more than 60 consultants participating this month! You should get some GREAT crafty inspiration! Today you should have arrived from Brenda’s blog. If you get lost along the way, Melinda has the list on her blog!

Let’s take a look, shall we? I shopped my stash to make a cute little bag out of an old paper (Dotty for you). I used this tutorial, and it was QUITE easy! I know you will like it too!

2015-04-30-17.56.41

I shopped more of my stash for this cute little fox! He comes from the Pathfinding Complements. I popped him up on some foam tape, and layered him over some of the new Washi tapes that had been layered on some White Daisy Cardstock.

2015-04-30-17.56

I used Lagoon, Slate, and Sunset inks to stamp the banners that are on the left side of the front panel. Then I used my micro-tip scissors to cut them out.

closeup

What you can’t really tell from the photos is that I used some of the Basics Bakers Twine for the handles. But, I couldn’t use just one strand! That wouldn’t be thick enough! So I took three lengths of about 14″, took the silver out (because it is a boyish bag, and not all boys want bling), and then braided them! This gives it a handle thick enough to handle any little treats that I put in there!

This set has so many fun options! I know you will love it!

March SOTM Blog hop, Choose Happy

Welcome to March’s Stamp of the Month blog hop! This month’s stamp, Choose Happy, is a fun doodled stamp set. You get 4 frames, 2 borders, 2 doodles, and 6 sentiments. I’m certain with the more than 70 consultants participating, that you will find some great ideas on how to use this set! Today, you should have arrived here from Gina’s blog. If you happen to get lost along the way, Melinda has the full list on her blog.

For my card today, I was inspired by this card I found on Pinterest.

balloon01

While I know that I have a balloon on one of my cricut cartridges, I didn’t want to have to pull it out for just one little card (it doesn’t have a set home just yet). So, I just free handed a balloon on a scrap piece of paper, and then cut it out from some Brushed paper.

balloon02

I used Archival Black ink for the ‘balloon string’ and the sentiment, and then popped a few of the gold sequins onto the card, to give it just a little more fun! Wit them being self adhesive, it made it that much easier!

This is a super simple and quick card, and can be used for so many reasons!

This stamp set is fun! Take a look at everything on it!

1503-sotm-stamp-sm

As with all SOTM, it is just $5 with a $50 order! Talk to your consultant to get it, and if you don’t have one yet, I would love to help you out!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my little card! Next in the blog hop is Krista. I’m positive that she has an adorable creation for you as well!

Until we meet again, have some crafty fun!
